Welcome to the Progressive Education Network

MASS PARTICIPATION

The engagement of articulate and successful practitioners is key.

Progressive Education Network aims to engage with and challenge policy makers of every political hue by bringing the voice of experience and the wisdom of leading education professionals and school leaders to the debate. How do we best build on what’s working now to develop the education system that maximises the opportunities for the success of every child?

We call on anyone who cares about the quality of education in this country to join the Network.

AN AUTHENTIC PRACTITIONER VOICE

We aim to challenge and engage policy makers to ensure future reforms build on past successes.

As educators, what unites us is the knowledge that nothing matters more than maximising the potential of our learners and fulfilling the aspirations of their parents. Building an education system which is responsive to both their changing needs and the requirements of our society must be our top priority. Progressive Education Network believes that the best way to achieve this is to include our professional educators at the very highest echelon of the policy making process.

Progressive Education Network was launched in early 2010 and is led by experienced headteachers and teachers. We are passionate about access to good education for every individual student, quality provision for all and good outcomes for all.

Now that the election is over it is important that educators and politicians find time to come together over evidence and practical action and move away from overstated pre-election positioning.

As we move forward into a period of potentially seismic change in our education system, the need for a progressive force which can influence policy is more pronounced than ever.

Progressive Education Network congratulates Michael Gove on becoming the Secretary of State for Education and wishes him and his team the very best. Cradling the aspirations of parents and the life chances of so many children means that Mr Gove’s is possibly one of the most important jobs in Government.
